Japanese artist Akie Nakata doesn’t see rocks as just rocks. Ever since she was a child, the self-taught artist has been collecting stones. One time she came across a particular rock that looked like a rabbit and since then started her stone paintings.
How is her creative process like? She starts with sourcing animal-shaped stones, carefully considers if each character fits with the natural shape of the stone. Then she paints the stone’s surfaces with acrylic paint, and leaves the eyes painted last.
Let’s see these adorable animals in stones you can hold in the palm of your hand now!
